 This is the main way to progress through the game and get rewards. You’ll get matched with a player of similar rank, however deck strength and card rarity does not influence it. For each match you’ll get Experience Points, but if you win you’ll also get Stars and Flux (in-game resources), as well as Ranked Points. The latter will impact your way through the 12 ranks of the game, from “Bronze” all the way to “Mythic”. Lose 4 games in a row and you’ll lose a lot of progress and might even drop your rank. There is, however, a safe point where you will not lose a rank.

 Choose a deck and easily join a queue for matches that won't affect your official ranking. This is a good way to try different decks and strategies in a less stressful way. In this mode you’ll also get Experience Points, on top of Stars and Flux.

At the start of each game, you get to choose your God Power for that specific match. This ability can be used each turn provided you have enough mana. Already here you can see your opponent’s God, so you may adjust your choice to that.

Then, comes the mulligan phase, where you are presented with 3 cards and get to adjust your starting hand. Selecting a card will replace it with a random one from your deck.

The game then begins and each player draws 1 card each turn. The amount of mana available for players increases by one each turn until turn 5 where it begins to unlock at a slower rate.

To summon creatures, drag and drop the cards onto the board. To launch an attack, or use a spell card, click and hold the cards and drag them to the target. You can have up to 9 cards in hand and 6 creatures on the board.

To win the game you must bring the health of your opponent's god down to 0.

One balancing mechanic is called the “Bag of Tricks”. The player who goes first will receive one bag of tricks, while the player who goes second will receive three. Using it will unlock one mana for that round allowing you to refill and use it with new cards without waiting for the next turn.

Another twist on the genre introduced by Gods Unchained is the Sanctum and the Favor system.

Favor is a resource that players gain during a match for performing certain actions, such as attacking the opponent’s god, or having your creature survive and attack while your opponent’s creature dies.

The Favor points can be spent during the match in the Sanctum, in exchange for temporary cards outside of the player’s deck.

Such a system, while increasing the game’s complexity, brings an additional strategic element that can really turn the tide on a game.

Gods Unchained is one of the most popular P2E card games. It has over 450,000 registered players despite only being in beta. Gods Unchained has stood the test of time and is one of the longest-running, most stable projects in the ever-changing Web3 gaming industry.

Coming out victorious in PvP matches earns you resources that you can convert into real money (which we will go over in the next section), but you can’t play Axie Infinity…well, infinitely.

There is a Stamina system in place to prevent excessive leveling up and inflation caused by exploitative actions like grinding and botting. It is still possible to continue playing, but you won’t continue to earn valuable resources.

Playing an Arena or Adventure round will use one of those points.

The amount of stamina that you will have is determined by the total of starter and NFT Axies that you have and is capped at 60 per day.

At the start of each turn, you will draw 5 cards from your deck of 18 cards. You can use the abilities of the cards by tapping on them, and the cards you use will go into the discard pile. You will have 3 Energy at the start of each turn, and as you play the cards, your energy will decrease. Once you have used all your energy or have no more cards to play, tap "End Turn," and any unused cards and energy will be discarded.

The health of your opponent's Axies is displayed by the bars above their heads, and the goal is to reduce their health to 0 before they can do the same to you. The winner will receive rewards such as power-ups or crafting materials.

In Adventure Mode, you can unlock new chapters in the storyline, and in Ranked Arena Mode, you can collect Victory Stars and climb to higher ranks.

Focusing on AstroRoyale, which aligns most closely with our interests at XPAD, the game sports an appealing low-poly art style that is less graphically intensive, thus running smoothly on most systems. However, this can lead to visibility challenges due to effects like rain or smoke. The controls are responsive, making aiming feel fluid.

AstroRoyale boasts several game modes including 

, supporting up to 200 players in the available map, Astro City. Crates scattered across the map offer a variety of weapons, ammunition, shields, and jet pack fuel - yes, a jet pack, providing a unique vertical dimension to gameplay.

MetaOps feels quite impressive from the start. Gameplay is actually solid, albeit not as sharp or polished as Call of Duty, as few other games are, but it is definitely promising even in this early alpha development stage.

Gunplay feels good, and movement is fluid. There’s not really much else you could ask for in terms of an FPS, but MetaOps nails it. There is room for improvement when it comes to firing the pistol quickly; it doesn’t have the fire rate of something like Halo’s legendary pistol, but that’s something that can be fixed easily enough. This is a minor nitpick, as it’s a ton of fun taking out opponents with grenades and assault rifles.

It’s worth noting that the game is still in active development, and fixes are being added as well as new content, including a single-player campaign that is being worked on.

The game definitely needs more content because the two maps that are available at the moment won’t cut it long-term. The two maps in question, 

, are both well-designed and complex enough to allow for some intense shootouts.

Each map features a mix of enclosed corridors and wider open spaces for variety, and many cleverly placed jump pads even give the maps some verticality. Hopping onto a high ledge and posting up with a sniper rifle was particularly fun.

At first glance, it would appear that everything with MetaOps is running smoothly. It's a game that's fun to play; the graphics can be improved, but it does look good enough, and it's being marketed as a play-and-earn game that's in high demand. It should go off without a hitch; nevertheless, at this point, it is difficult to find players on any server around the world, which is not a particularly encouraging indicator. A portion of it may be explained by the ongoing bear market, while the other portion could be explained by the requirement of an NFT in order to participate.

Eventually, the game will be free-to-play, and a default character will be assigned if you don’t own an NFT.

Because MetaOps is still unfinished, it’s not possible to get a feel for its many systems. However, it’s fair to say that the game appears to be coming together quite nicely at this stage. The gameplay is there, the controls feel solid, and it’s being designed to support competitive gaming.

Alas, because the game is positioned to rely so heavily on its blockchain features and cryptocurrency integration, how these things are woven into the game will either make it or break it. It’s built on Solana, so the foundations are definitely solid and the infrastructure is there; it’s just up to the MetaOps development team to follow through on what’s been promised in terms of gameplay and the game economy.

Having said that, it is reasonable to expect MetaOps to have some staying power and possibly even some Esports potential. This is the case if everything comes together as it is expected to.

If you’re just stumbling onto MetaOps and are wanting to give it a try, it’s hard to justify the upfront cost in this day and age, even more so when the game is lacking features and players in its current stage.

MetaOps is an NFT-based FPS game built on

The planet O'Ree-Jin has been discovered to contain the Essence of Life, a substance that is highly coveted by the civilizations of four surrounding planets.

There are four main civilizations in the game: the Imperial Triarchy is a race of cyborg-like subterranean beings; the Drifters Commonwealth are intergalactic nomads, the Ascendancy is a race of energy beings with the ability to control light; and the Sons of Venor are a hunting-gathering civilization that specializes in dangerous creature hunting. A fifth civilization is expected to be introduced in the future.

Teams of three heroes from these civilizations travel to the planet and compete to collect the most essence, fighting against one another in order to emerge victorious and take control of the universe's essence.

Each match consists of four teams competing on a symmetrical map and lasts for 10 minutes, with the team that has collected the most essence at the end of the time being declared the winner. The gameplay involves shooting, mobility, and the use of hero abilities, all of which are designed to encourage teamwork.

There are numerous ways to acquire essence, so players must decide on the strategy that best fits their playstyle. Some options include absorbing essence from Essence Extractors, defeating enemy heroes, attacking other team's bases to steal their essence, and defeating AI creatures on the planet. With so many options available, players must think carefully and choose the approach that will allow them to dominate the competition.

Players in the game may select from a variety of heroes to play as in each match. Each hero has their own unique abilities and role on the team.

, is good at attacking and fighting up close. It has a Shotgun and can use a special move called Dash to move quickly and get close to its enemies. It also has a special attack called Quantum Blades that hurts its opponents and lets Alith teleport to them.

, is equipped with a rocket launcher that does a lot of damage but doesn't shoot very fast, which is good for fighting from medium to long distances. Duke also has a jetpack that lets them fly and an ability called Power Dive that lets them dive from the air and cause damage to a lot of enemies at once.

, helps their teammates move around and get to places quickly. It has a sub-machinegun that shoots a lot of bullets but doesn't do a lot of damage, which is good for fighting from short to medium distances. Kira can create a projection of itself that explodes and lets it switch places with it, and also create a barrier that their allies can use to heal themselves.

, is your typical sniper and are good for long distance battles. Sahad also has a grappling hook that helps with moving around and an ability called Tactical Retreat that it uses to escape when in close quarters and need to get away.

In addition to their abilities, each hero can also use Hero Cards. These cards are used during gameplay and provide both active and passive bonuses. There are two types of cards in the game: common and premium. As players progress through a match, their character will level up. At each new level, the player is given the option to choose two cards that will enhance their abilities. Players can bring a selection of 10 different cards to a game, and characters can level up a maximum of five times. This means that a player can equip up to five of the cards they have brought to the game.

After acquiring the IP from The Breach Studios, the gaming studio that conceptualized the project in the first place, Falco.gg is now the gaming publisher responsible for The Harvest. The core team brings experiences from studios such as Ubisoft, Gameloft, or Konami eSports.

The game is being developed on Unreal Engine and it’s planned to be multichain, while currently being already on BNB Chain and Solana.

First and foremost, Blankos Block Party is free to play. You can access the game by downloading the launcher from the official site, or by downloading the game from the Epic Games Store, as previously mentioned, and you’re off to the races.

With the game installed and an account made, you’re pretty much instantly thrown into action, and Blankos Block Party might look and feel a little familiar to gamers who have played a particular battle royale game that stars some clumsy characters.

If that wasn’t clear enough for you, Blankos Block Party clearly takes a lot of inspiration from Fall Guys, but it never feels like a ripoff. The Blankos are similarly cute and colorful, and the stages you play on are just as creative and complex, but Blankos Block Party is different where it counts.

Players take control of the highly customizable, Funko POP!-like Blankos and take them through competitions across maps that really sell the fact that you’re playing as a toy. These competitions consist of “Vibe” collection (the game’s collectibles), races, and all-out combat. The Blankos feel great and control very well, and I didn’t have any issue adjusting to the various needs of each event. Vibe collection requires you to be nimble, races obviously require speed, and combat elimination, probably the most involved one, is incredibly fun thanks to fantastic aiming speed and time-to-kill. At every turn, Blankos Block Party is a delight.

Outside of the primary game modes, players can also build their own events using a suite of complex yet intuitive tools that the developers provide you with. I played a few of these player-created events, and they were never as polished as the ones present in the main game, but the ability to flex your creativity and add content to the game is definitely a plus.

If I really had to pick apart Blankos Block Party to find something negative, I would say that the Blankos can become a little difficult to control if you manage to come across a power-up. On more than one occasion, I found myself flying into a stage hazard because a glowing blue power-up made my Blanko move so fast that it basically ignored inertia and slid right off a platform into acid. It's slightly annoying, and this doesn’t happen all the time or is even possible on every stage, but it’s worth mentioning.

If only other blockchain game projects would follow Blankos Block Party’s lead, the industry might enjoy a much faster integration process with the standard video game industry.

Yes, it might be a little inspired by another successful video game, but Blankos Block Party is entirely its own experience. Anybody even moderately interested in NFTs, video games, or their inevitable fusion, should check this game out.

Web3 and blockchain gaming has made great strides in the past few years, there’s no doubt about that. Sure, there are plenty of projects that don’t look like they’ll go anywhere, but the number of promising and even already successful projects is growing all the time. While just about all of the games in this category are ongoing works in progress, some of them have glimmers of hope of becoming something that goes beyond the boundaries it is expected to stay within. The game we are taking a look at today has that glimmer, and it seems like it should be a project to watch for most blockchain gamers

That project is Blankos Block Party, a free-to-play, multiplayer party game that is being co-developed by both Mythical, Inc. and Third Kind Games, and published by Mythical, Inc. This game is fun, creative, and has a personality that many projects in this space either try to emulate and fail at or completely lack. These attributes, combined with its high-level accessibility from being available on the Epic Games Store make Blankos Block Party an easy frontrunner for the wide acceptance of NFT gaming in the mainstream video game industry.

Let’s take a look now at some of the things that make Blankos Block Party lead the pack.

Undead Blocks is reminiscent of the old “Left 4 Dead” and “Call of Duty: Zombies” but fun and challenging in its own right.
Despite being currently in beta, the visuals are on-par with what you would expect from a fast paced zombie survival game and the environments are detailed enough to set the mood. The gameplay feels polished, the controls are precise and responsive, showing that the team has prioritized game experience first and only then the tokenomics.
Difficulty wise, the game is easy to pick up but it gets increasingly challenging as the time progresses and you are overwhelmed by the undead coming from all flanks.
Some of the features described here will be available once the final version is released and the game is expected to evolve as the studio iterates on players feedback.

While in open beta the game is free-to-play, however, in order to earn rewards players will need to obtain a Weapon Loadout by minting via the Stake2Mint program, purchasing through on secondary NFT markets such as OpenSea, or by becoming a scholar via the gas-less lending program on the Undead Blocks Marketplace.

There are multiple game modes available: Solo, Squads, Speedrun; with more to come in the future.

Beside the game modes, players can also select from a variety of characters, called Survivors. Split between Common, Epic and Legendary classes and complete with a backstory, you’ll for sure find one matching your play style.
At the time, only one map was available, but new ones are already in development and are expected to launch with the game's full release.

Once the game starts, players are dropped in a map where they must defend themselves against the undead. Simple enough but the truth is that it is challenging and you can even expect armed zombies that hit you at a distance.
At the start you’ll be given a Pistol and a Combat Knife, however, other weapons can be used provided you have enough XP to unlock them. The more zombie killing you do, the more XP you get (bonus for headshots of course). If you own a Weapon Loadout NFT, all weapons and equipment there included will be available across the map to be unlocked. At launch the game features all the weapon types you would expect: handguns, assault rifles, shotguns, different melee options and even specialty weapons like crossbow and wavegun.
The XP earned will also allow you to use other assets you may have in the loadout such as grenades and cocktail molotovs, and perks to restore health, increase sprint or reload speed. The perks are available in vending machines across the map. With XP you can also unlock new areas of the map so you find that sweet spot to unleash your zombie killing skills.

Undead Blocks also hosts sponsored tournaments with large prize pools. The aim is to promote the game and increase brand awareness across other communities.
The tournaments typically run for 72h and consist of a challenge where players use a specific weapon to achieve the higher number of kills / XP in a time limit.

The full game version will feature daily leaderboards that will allow thousands of players to compete and earn in the various game modes. Every 24 hours, the leaderboards will be refreshed, and daily winners will be updated.

While the game must be downloaded to a PC or Mac, players can also connect a Playstation or Xbox controller through bluetooth or cable for that gamepad experience.

Wagyu Games also announced the Survivor Streamer Program ahead of the full game's release. The initiative will offer perks and rewards to content creators that assist game developers in expanding the game.
Only players that stream Undead Blocks for 2 hours each week are eligible for this program. Another need is that the players participate in the in-game tournaments.

Additional content, such as weapons, skins, new characters and new maps will be published into the game on a regular basis in the form of battle passes.


Undead Blocks not only bring the nostalgic back for zombie shooters but also come with a polished experience to match. Both visuals and gameplay is of high level which is not easy to find in most web3 games. At its current state, the replayability takes a hit due to the limited game modes and maps available. This typeofgame works best with a group of friends, something that is not available right now. But on the plus side you get to try different weapons of the game even if you don’t own a NFT, which will be necessary if you want to earn the rewards when the game launches. The NFTs are rather expensive at the time and staking $UNDEAD token to get one also demands a relatively high upfront cost. Although you can play for free right now, in the future you will also be able to rent NFT from other players for a split of the rewards, this way lowering the barrier of entry. With the launch of the final versions and the future developments in the pipeline it’s easy to see this game growing to be one of the references in the space. Undead Blocks has the elements to become a great esports title, although popularity in that front has died down over the years, it could be revived, especially if a PvPvE mode is introduced.

Ev.io's focus on fast-paced gameplay and low entry barrier is one of its selling points. The game makes use of automatic graphic scaling technologies that allow it to run smoothly on the most basic hardware. That being said, the graphics can feel very simplistic, especially when compared to a modern shooter game.

In Ev.io, players can go solo or play with teammates and friends. The primary game mode is Team Deathmatch, where players are separated into groups of 4 and spawn on the map at random. The goal is to eliminate as many players as possible within the time limit to win the match. Maps are chosen at random, and after each game, players can quickly join another one. Besides Team 

. The latter is the most recent game mode and sees two teams of four players compete in a best-of-five match, with each round lasting one minute. During a round, players cannot respawn but can be revived by others.

Players can choose their primary weapon from a hand cannon, an auto rifle, or a laser rifle. Each of the primary weapons belongs to a particular archetype. For example, the auto rifle deals little damage but fires quickly, while the laser gun deals a lot of damage but fires at a slower rate. During the game players may pick up weapons on the map. There are 3 options: shotgun, sniper, and rocket launcher. These weapons are far more powerful than your primary weapon, but they have limited ammunition. The game also includes a fairly complex ability system that is mostly focused on movement and grenades. Abilities are presented in the form of a skill tree that can be leveled up to provide players with better movement options, reduced gun downtime, and ammunition. The majority of skills are passive, but for each character only two abilities can be active at once.

There is a Clan system within the game as well, intended to allow users to collaborate on common interests and goals. Clans compete for points, which determine where they stand on the clan leaderboard and whether they can get rewards. Not every clan must be competitive. Players can form clans with people who only play for fun. In any event, being a member of a clan allows players to display their custom clan insignia above their heads and on the leaderboard. To create a clan, players must submit a form through this 

. An admin will then review the application. There are 3 roles in the clan: 

The Commander can do everything with regards to the clan management, such as invite and remove players, assign roles, deploy members, etc.

The Lieutenant can edit the clan info and deploy members.

The Recruit is the default role when joining a clan and has no special privileges.

Each clan can have a maximum of 20 deployed members (members that can earn points). This mechanic is there to force players to switch between being deployed and not being deployed. This helps the clan and makes the game more competitive.

Ev.io is a fast-paced, frictionless shooter that’s also fun to play. The team has been making consistent progress through their roadmap, introducing new features and onboarding new partners.

There is a great variety of maps and very little downtime in between sessions. The game provides many options for adjusting the controls to your liking.

Making the game accessible and able to run on any hardware is a good way to easily attract new players, but that means that the visuals look outdated.

Also, at times, it is hard to tell if you’re playing against a human opponent or an AI.

It’s hard to know if the model will be sustainable in the long run as it's dependent on sponsorships. The P2E loop could easily break if the sponsors are not continuously engaged, which in turn will decrease the reward pool and give fewer incentives to players.

Having enjoyable gameplay does counterbalance that, and so we can agree that the team has been successful on both fronts so far.

EV.IO is a multiplayer first-person shooter running on the Solana blockchain, inspired by the classics like Halo and Destiny. The game is free-to-play with the option to engage in play-to-earn, for which a NFT is required.

EV.IO is a browser game that does not require any downloads and is meant to be highly accessible on any computer.

In EFAS, the human race was forced to leave Earth and seek refuge on The Ark, a massive spaceship, where they traveled for 2000 years with the help of AI. Upon arriving at the Kepler 452 system, the AI and robots used the ship's genetic archives to help rebuild the Ark into a habitable home for the humans. For the first century, everything seemed to be in order, but eventually, the natural tendencies of humanity caused chaos to spread throughout the system. Disagreements and the growing divide between the wealthy and the poor led to widespread conflict, with wars and theft becoming common occurrences throughout the Kepler 452 system.

The lore gets interesting as you dig deeper into the details found in the whitepaper, and it certainly leaves room for expansion on that front.

This is a universe-spanning sci-fi MMO that is being built by veteran video game developers from studios like Riot, Gameloft, and Disney Interactive, among others. At this point, the game has been in development for three and a half years, and 80% of the game's content is done and can be played by those who backed the game's crowdfunding campaign or bought NFTs.

The level of polish that you would expect of a modern AAA video game from a major publisher. The studio behind it, Multiverse, has only a few games under its belt, but that does include the very impressive VR sci-fi action survival game Seeking Dawn.

Multiverse’s dedication to the project is apparent in that polish, but also in its promise of continued support. Even in the game’s alpha state, it is updated and new content is added every two weeks, building on the ever-expanding universe. And that’s just the official content. There are plans to make the official developer design tools available to the public, allowing for intricate player-created content.

All of the content, whether official or player-created, can be experienced solo or with a group of friends in multiplayer co-op for up to 4 players. Co-op events for 10 people are also planned for a later date, as are huge battles that will support up to 1,000 units at once, like the famous space battles in EVE Online.

At the start,you will need to choose a path to follow and gather resources along the way. One option is to build a nation by conquering planets to obtain resources. Alternatively, you can create a corporation and earn resources through business ventures. Another option is to become a thief, although you must be careful not to run afoul of military fleets.

Once you have built your nation, you will need to establish diplomatic relations and improve your domain. It is important to choose a political system that is suitable for your nation, as a dictatorship can lead to failure and suffering for your citizens. However, you can also make connections with a diverse group of monarchs and space explorers, including forming romantic ties.

To improve your weaponry, equipment, personnel, vehicles, ships, and other resources, you will need to use the in-game currency, which you can get by completing tasks and getting achievements within the game.

Now, as far as what is available in the game’s current incarnation, you have space exploration via your own personal spaceship, and intense FPS combat when you’re on planet surfaces or in dungeon areas. Space exploration also looks to be inspired by EVE Online, with similar scale and functionality. You can zoom outward on the map from your ship to see other sectors and just how small you are in the grand scheme of the universe.

Any planet you come across in your exploration can be landed on and explored on foot.

In terms of gunplay, it does the job, but it's not quite up to par. The level of fluidity and style on display reminded me quite a lot of Overwatch, which just about everyone knows feels excellent to play. There are far worse games to take inspiration from for an FPS.

However, the game suffers from balancing issues. This is something that is very common in the early stages of development, and I’m sure they will be addressing it in time for the final release.

Right now, the game also includes dungeons, crafting, customization, and upgrades, all of which work as you would expect them to.

Earth From Another Sun is yet another promising blockchain gaming project, but it does have other things going for it. For one, it will have both a Web3 and a traditional game version running simultaneously, one with blockchain integration and one without. It’s not clear how or if these versions will coexist or have any kind of cross-play. The non-blockchain version will also be launching on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation, which could potentially signal a boost for the blockchain-enhanced version if things go well.

For right now, it is a game to keep an eye on, and one that fans of both sci-fi and MMOs should be following closely. I just hope that the blockchain version pushes the industry forward in the same way the game seems to be pushing the limits of what

MMOs are not new in the blockchain gaming world. There are plenty of examples of functioning MMOs with crypto at their core, including the recently launched Beyond Earth Online. These games use a familiar format and add on blockchain features, but none of them push the boundaries of the genre quite like Earth From Another Sun.

Earth From Another Sun (EFAS) has been in development for nearly four years with a very clear, singular goal in mind: to build a true metaverse. Developer Multiverse has been hard at work, creating an entire living universe to explore, and they are almost at the finish line.

EFAS is a sandbox galaxy conquest game, which means that players are free to explore a whole star system, take over planets, build their own territories and armadas, and make all kinds of content in a universe that is always growing.

When first stepping foot on the alien planet Kerberos, it is quite astonishing. The game is built in Unreal Engine 4, and even though it is only in an early alpha state, the game looks incredible. The surface of Kerberos is beautiful, dotted by the occasional sci-fi military installation, hill, or murky puddle under a massive, detailed skybox. Light from Kerberos’s sun is diffused through the thick fog of early morning or the dust kicked up by weapons of war on this mostly dry planet. MetalCore is definitely a looker, and that was before any of the action kicked in.

Surprisingly, MetalCore doesn’t instantly dump you into a mech and send you on your way to wreak havoc across the planet. Instead, you’ll first take control of an infantryman and complete objectives across the planet while also participating in multiplayer matches. Both activities earn you experience that is required to level up and earn access to the game’s many vehicles. Except for the Scout vehicle, which can be piloted right away. All other vehicles are available at level 4, along with the PvP Faction Wars portion of the game.

are the three factions you can join. When you join a faction, you get benefits when your faction defeats another faction in combat. Each faction also provides passive bonuses.

The FPS gameplay of MetalCore definitely needs some work. Aiming feels a little sluggish, and looking down the sights resulted in the sight of the rifle waving around the screen, which isn’t really ideal when you’re trying to be as precise as possible with your shots. It’s not as polished as mainstream FPSs like Far Cry or Call of Duty, but the game is still early in its development, so it’s easy to give it a pass for this. Especially since the game's core gameplay is so good.

Aside from the aforementioned Scout vehicle, a nimble little hovercraft with a laser turret, MetalCore also has Fighter Jets, Tanks, and, of course, Mechs. Tanks feel just about how you would expect them to, but slightly faster than in other games, and the Fighter Jet is super maneuverable, able to move in any direction at will while packing plenty of firepower.
